Few places in the world can induce images of pristine turquoise waters, white powdered sandy beaches, and tropical palm-tree paradise like Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous territory of Tanzania located just off the country’s coast but with its own unique heritage and culture. Those travelers whom love acquainting themselves with the rich culture and complex history of a new country but also want scenic panoramas and gorgeous beaches, Zanzibar is the destination for you. This gem offers everything you could possibly want – palm-fringed beaches, powdery white sand, historical villages and towns, colorful markets. This getaway is for 25 and UP crowd. Both women and men are welcomed on this trip!
ITINERARY
DAY 1
Upon your arrival in Zanzibar, The Sunny Experience representatives will warmly greet you at the airport and take you to Stone Town. Your accommodation for the next three nights is a recently established luxury boutique hotel situated in the heart of Stone Town. You’ll have ample time to get comfortable and relax after your journey to this stunning African island.
Later in the evening, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner at the highest rooftop Tea House restaurant in Zanzibar. This restaurant has breathtaking 360° views of Stone Town and the Indian Ocean. Providing an opportunity to immerse ourselves in Swahili culture, cuisine, and traditional Taarab performances by accomplished musicians from the Dhow Countries Music Academy while getting to know each other.

DAY 2
Embark on a journey to fully absorb the essence of Stone Town and Swahili culture today. Stone Town boasts a unique character that is unparalleled anywhere else on Earth. Following breakfast, we’ll set out to uncover the Island’s culture, embracing it’s beauty, warmth, and generosity through a hands-on cooking session with local women in Zanzibar. This experience provides a chance to glean insights from enthusiastic local women who are keen to share their traditional cuisine, crafts and daily life, contributing to the support and empowerment of the local community. Our exploration of Stone Town continues with a captivating walking tour, unveiling the historical culture and architecture of Zanzibar, steeped in centuries-old history. As night falls, savor dinner in a enchanting Secret Garden tucked away from the bustling noise of Stone Town. Conclude the day at Forodhani Market, where you can witness the mesmerizing sunset and admire the daring cliff jumpers.

DAY 3
We are in ZANZIBAR, renowned as one of the most breathtaking islands globally. Embracing the island life, today is dedicated to thrilling Watersports. We’ll set sail to Mnemba Island aboard a private luxury Catamaran, offering you the choice to engage in water activities like swimming, snorkeling, observing Dolphins in their natural habitat, or simply unwinding while enjoying the spectacular beaches and turquoise waters. As the day unfolds, indulge in a delectable seafood buffet that will surely spoil your taste buds.

DAY 4
Our exploration into the rich culture and history of Zanzibar continues. Following breakfast, we’ll embark on a journey to Prison Island aboard a traditional Dhow boat. This excursion will enlighten us about the island’s history, and you’ll have the chance to interact with the captivating Tortoises.
As part of today’s adventure, we’ll be transitioning to a new hotel. Your residence for the upcoming three nights is a lavish 5-star beach resort tucked away on the scenic Michamvi Peninsula.

DAY 5
Today offers you the freedom to either unwind and take pleasure in the resort’s facilities or partake in suggested activities, details of which will be provided to all confirmed guests. You are in ZANZIBAR. The day is yours. Take it all in, explore your surroundings, relax a little, swim in the pool, lounge on the beach, try some new restaurants, meet some locals, get all your social media content in. However you want to spend your day, you can!

DAY 6
Today is a bustling Zanzibar Bucketlist day with an abundance of activities.
Following breakfast, we’ll embark on a cruise aboard a traditional Dhow boat, offering the opportunity to swim or leisurely observe and engage with Starfishes.
Enjoy delicious dinner at the renowned Rock Restaurant situated in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by pristine waters!
Cap off the day with sunset and drinks at a secluded beachfront restaurant.

DAY 7
Following breakfast, we’ll venture out for a unique experience of swimming with and feeding turtles of various sizes at the Turtle Aquarium. These turtles, rescued and cared for, are eventually released back into the wild. Be prepared for abundant laughter and the opportunity to capture amazing photos during this heartwarming encounter!
Sadly, today marks the conclusion of our Zanzibar group travel. We’ll be picked up from our resort and transported to the airport for our return flights home. The bonds of friendship formed and the memories captured by our professional photographer will serve as lasting reminders of this journey. The Sunny Experience staff will be in contact with you upon your return to discuss potential future trips!

Payment Plan Details
Following initial deposit, all clients will receive a monthly invoice for the amount due (total trip cost less deposit divided by the number of payments) which can be paid directly through the website. All payments received past the invoiced due date will be assessed a $35 late fee.

Your flight should arrive at Abeid Amani Karma International Airport formerly known as Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ)
Visas are required for U.S. citizens traveling to Tanzania. You may apply for a visa online in advance of travel. Applicants may complete the e-visa application form and make payment online with a credit card or bank transfer at www.immigration.go.tz. If the e-visa is approved, the applicant will receive a “grant notice” via email. Present a copy of the grant notice to the Immigration Officer on arrival at the airport in Tanzania. U.S. citizens may also obtain a tourist visa upon arrival at the airport in Tanzania. The cost is $100 USD. Be prepared to pay in cash in case connectivity issues make electronic transactions impossible. A valid passport with a least 1 Visa page is required and it is recommended that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your entry into Tanzania.

Check-in is typical 2pm but there will be some adjustments made for our group to check in earlier. If you are arriving later on in the day, our welcome dinner is on the first night so do your best to be in Zanzibar before 5 p.m. on the first day of the trip. Check-out is at 1 p.m. on the last day of the trip and you are able to keep your luggage at the hotel if your flight is later in the day on the day of check out but everyone must check out by 1 p.m.
Effective October 1, 2024, all foreign non-residents traveling to Zanzibar will be required to purchase mandatory travel insurance directly from the national insurer, Zanzibar Insurance Corporation, prior to arrival. Non-resident, U.S. citizens traveling to Zanzibar can pre-pay for the travel insurance here.
